What makes a good mix?

I always told myself that a good mix is one that is void of distractions. Remove the bad until you are left with good. However, some of my favorite commercial mixes are littered with distracting moments used to create contrast, keeping the listener engaged. I believe it’s not just about the gear but the gut reactions and ears behind it. I have a DIY gear obsession! I’ve been tweaking circuits and building clones since audio school.

How I Got Started

My journey began at 8 years of age, sitting on my dad’s lap in the sound booth at church, tweaking the pastor’s EQ. That spark led me to the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in 2002. Since then, I have presented engaging and compelling mixes to so many wonderful clients.

Night Owl, Dawn Chaser

I’m a night owl at heart, thriving in the quiet "zone" where creativity flows, though our two young children have taught me to love a good sunrise. My wife and I moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho from Charleston, South Carolina in 2021 to raise our kids closer to our families. Oh, and we have a crazy standard poodle named Landon! My faith, family, and friends fuel my inspiration, alongside a love for some fuzzy distortion, coffee, and a nice blast of the AC with the windows down (sorry earth!).
